Betfair trading software

Have been through the cards but can't find any good opportunities so no bets today - ditto on the financial trading.

Just came across some more Betfair trading software on zergtrader's blog:

http://zergtrader.blogspot.ie/2012/10/see-wheres-your-money-in-queue.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+TradingBetfairExchange+%28Trading+Betfair+Exchange%29

It's called Advanced Cymatic trading and the main feature that differentiates it from other bots is that it allows you to see where your money is in the queue. I haven't had a chance to use it yet but this could prove very handy indeed. I hope to give it a go over the weekend.

  1. strongly doubt it can do what it says re PIQ, at best, it is taking a guess at what is available a split-second before your bet is processed. On the screenshots, it shows no live volumes off the current screen (first three offers) - so how could they have the live data?

  2. Thanks Scott - I'll have a play around with it this weekend - it would be very handy but as you say, it's probably an estimation. Here's what they say:

"PIQ only works for orders that have been entered in the ladder. It does not work for orders entered in the Exchange Grid View or elsewhere (such as on the Betfair website or another software application).

PIQ works only displays on rows where the existing volume is not zero (i.e. it works when you join a price that other orders are already working at). So if you add a new order at a price where other money exists then it will show your PIQ.

In a future version of the software, where full market prices may be shown, rather than just the front 3 on each side, then PIQ will be enabled for any row including rows which have no prior orders (so you would see 1 as your PIQ if you put an order an a price that had no other money there).

So at the moment, if you place an order at a price that has money already there and then you will see your PIQ.

Example – if there is £100 available to back at a price of 5.00, you then add an order to lay £10 at 5.00 (so the market now shows £110 instead available). Now you will see 101 as your PIQ, meaning that your money starts at position 101 in the queue."

  3. Because data is polled from Betfair there is no reliable way to know your posiiton in the order queue. You will quickly see this if you try and use something that trys to predict. It just doesn't work. It's a gimmick.

  4. I can't see where's the prediction. You enter the market when there is a certain amount waiting and the software remember this. When others place stakes they are above you. I've been testing it for several days and I haven't found problems yet.

  5. Hi Zerg, what happens if the person in front of you in the queue pulls their money out of the market before getting matched? How does it know that it was the money in front of you that was pulled, and not the money behind you?

  6. hi,you can look at the last traded column and if the available money is changing without money being matched at that price, then somebody cancelled a bet. I use it in tennis or pre-race when the market is stable and I want only one tick and for this it's useful, for other strategies is might not be important. maybe others will test it and share their opinions after.

  8. Any update on whether this is any good or not?

  9. Hi Paul, being honest, I haven't had a chance to give it a real go. I played around with it for a day and more or less broke even but I'll need to spend a bit more time at it.

  10. Hi Wayne

Just to let you know, I've been trialling this and I think it is superb. The ladder interface is the best I've used so far. I trialled it as the same time as using Gruss and came to the conclusion that I prefer this. As it is a new product it doesn't have as much functionality as others, but it is constantly being updated by the vendor, and I've left a few suggestions on the forum, which the vendor has responded to very quickly. Recommended for me, and free (for now)!

    Cheers, Paul

  11. Paul, thanks a lot for the update. It seems like I'll have to make some time to give it a proper go.
